Terms & conditions for using WotUGot.
These terms apply when you access or use WotUGot, including marketplace listings, member messaging, Stories, chat, ratings and moderation tools. By using the service you agree to follow these terms and the Community rules.
Last updated: 6 October 2026.
WotUGot provides the online platform. Members make their own decisions and arrangements. Unless the law says otherwise, each member accepts the risks connected with dealing with another member and with any item exchanged.
1. The service
WotUGot is operated by WotUGot. Formal service or legal enquiries can be sent to admin@wotugot.co.uk or through the Contact Us page.
WotUGot provides tools including Swap, Sale, Swap / Sale, Seek and Shift listings, profiles, messaging, Stories, live chat, ratings, reporting, tracked deals and moderation. We may add, remove, change, suspend or discontinue features as the service develops.
Marketplace arrangements — including swaps, purchases, sales, mixed deals, free Shift handovers, collection, delivery and payment — are made directly between members. WotUGot does not hold purchase money, provide escrow or become the buyer or seller unless we expressly say otherwise.
Account deletion
Members may delete their account from Settings. Public profile details are anonymised and active listings are removed. Records that WotUGot reasonably needs to retain for payments, fraud prevention, disputes, safety or moderation may remain for the appropriate retention period. A rolling subscription must be cancelled before self-service account deletion.
Subscription expiry and existing listings
Ending or cancelling a subscription stops future subscriber benefits when the paid period ends, but it does not shorten the expiry date already granted to a listing created while subscriber posting limits applied. New listings and later renewals use the account level that applies at that time.
2. Your account
- You must provide accurate registration information, including your legal first and last name, home address and phone number, and keep those details up to date.
- You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a WotUGot account.
- One email address may only be used for one account and usernames must be unique.
- You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless caused by something for which WotUGot is legally responsible.
- You must not impersonate another person, evade a suspension or ban, or create accounts to manipulate ratings, reports or site features.
3. Listings, Stories and member content
You are responsible for everything you upload or publish. Listings must be honest, lawful and sufficiently accurate for another member to understand what is being offered, sold, requested or given away. A Shift post is for a free item and must not be used to demand payment. You must have the right to offer any item you list.
Stories may contain lawful mature or adult-oriented subject matter; WotUGot does not impose a general family-friendly rule. However, you must not upload illegal material or content that unlawfully infringes another person's privacy, image rights, intellectual property or other rights. You must not upload child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, credible threats, fraud, terrorist content or other unlawful material.
You must have the rights and any legally required consent needed to upload people, music, video, images or other material in a Story or listing video. Do not publish another person's private address, financial information, passwords, security codes or similarly sensitive information without lawful authority.
New Stories are sent for site review before public display. Approval is a review decision, not a legal certification or guarantee. Content may later be removed or restricted if new information, a report or a legal/safety issue comes to light.
You grant WotUGot the non-exclusive permission reasonably necessary to host, store, transcode where required, display, moderate, reproduce within the service and enable sharing of content you upload for operation of the platform. You retain ownership of your original content.
Local Services marketplace
Local Services lets members, sole traders and small local businesses promote lawful services to the WotUGot community. A Local Service post is promotional content, not a WotUGot endorsement, employment relationship or guarantee of the provider.
Providers are responsible for the accuracy of their business name, description, public service location, prices or quote information, qualifications, licences, insurance, tax obligations and any legal permissions required for the work they offer. Do not claim qualifications, approvals or insurance you do not hold.
Free-member Local Service posts are time-limited. Subscriber Local Service posts may remain live only until the end of the current paid subscription period. The number of active Local Service posts allowed is shown on the Subscription page and may be changed by WotUGot for future posting.
WotUGot does not process payment for Local Services and is not a party to any contract between a provider and a customer. Members should make their own checks before hiring or paying a provider. Service providers must not use Local Services to advertise unlawful, unsafe, misleading or prohibited activity.
Signed-in members may leave one public review on a Local Service post and may update that review later. Reviews must reflect the member's genuine opinion or experience and must not be fabricated, bought, retaliatory, defamatory, abusive or used to manipulate rankings. Local Service reviews are separate from a member's marketplace trade reputation.
Recommendations and monthly rewards
A new member can join through one recommendation link. Boosts for joining are awarded under the reward rules shown on the Recommend a friend page. Any subscription-stage referral rewards must be triggered by the referred member starting a qualifying paid subscription within one calendar month of joining through the recommendation link; after that deadline, those subscription-stage referral rewards expire. Creating fake or duplicate accounts, arranging sham Shift handovers or manipulating tracked deals or reward rankings is prohibited; fraudulent credits may be reversed and accounts restricted.
Top Shifter counts completed Shift handovers credited to the member who posted the item. Top Seller counts completed tracked cash or mixed sales credited to the seller. Top Swapper counts completed tracked exchanges. Top Booster counts listing boosts actually used during the month; administrator accounts are excluded because administrator boost access is unlimited. Each monthly winner receives the boost award shown on the site, subject to genuine activity and moderation of abuse.
Paid subscriptions and listing boosts
WotUGot offers two subscriber options: a one-off one-month subscription, which does not renew automatically, and a rolling subscription billed through Stripe monthly until cancelled. Current prices are shown before checkout and may be changed for future purchases.
Rolling subscriptions continue until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals; access already paid for continues until the end of the current paid period. Stripe handles the recurring billing relationship and card details.
Boost credits may be included with membership, earned through site rewards or purchased in packs. Unused credits remain on the account until used unless reversed for fraud, error, refund or abuse. Once a boost credit is applied to a listing, the enhanced marketplace visibility lasts for 72 hours, after which the listing returns to ordinary ordering. A boost does not guarantee views, messages, offers or a completed deal.
4. Member-to-member arrangements
Any agreement about an item, condition, value, collection, delivery, postage, payment or other exchange term is made between the members involved. WotUGot is not a party to that agreement and does not act as agent for either member.
You are responsible for carrying out your own checks before proceeding, including checks about identity, ownership, condition, authenticity, legality, safety, suitability and any other matter important to you.
5. No verification or guarantee
We do not promise that member content is accurate, that an item is genuine, safe, legal, complete, working, owned by the person offering it or suitable for any particular purpose. Profiles, ratings and moderation history may help you make a decision but are not guarantees.
We do not guarantee that another member will attend a meeting, send an item, return property, honour an agreement or behave lawfully.
6. Your risk and our responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WotUGot is not responsible for losses, damage, injury, disputes, fraud, misdescription, non-delivery, theft, defective or unsafe items, consequential loss or other problems arising from member-to-member dealings, user content, off-site activity or decisions made by users.
We are not responsible for losses that were not caused by our breach, were not reasonably foreseeable when you began using the service, arise from your business or commercial activity, or result from another user's acts or omissions, except where the law requires otherwise.
We do not exclude or limit liability where the law does not allow us to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any statutory rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
7. Safety and prohibited behaviour
You must follow the Stay safe guidance and Community rules. You must not use WotUGot for unlawful activity, stolen property, fraud, harassment, threats, abuse, dangerous or prohibited items, intellectual-property infringement, spam or manipulation of site systems. Pets, livestock and other live animals must not be listed, sold, swapped, shifted, sought or otherwise offered or requested through WotUGot.
8. Reporting illegal or unsafe content
Use the site's reporting tools or Contact page to report content that you believe is illegal, unsafe or in breach of these terms. We may preserve relevant records while a report is investigated. Where appropriate, we may remove or restrict content, suspend access, preserve evidence or respond to lawful requests from regulators or law-enforcement authorities.
Nothing in pre-approval means every piece of content has been exhaustively checked. Users should continue to report material that appears unlawful or unsafe.
9. Moderation, removal, suspension and bans
Admins and moderators may investigate reports, remove or restrict content, suspend accounts, ban accounts, restore content or take other reasonable moderation steps. We may act without prior notice where we reasonably believe this is necessary for safety, security, legal compliance or enforcement of these terms.
Moderation does not mean we have verified all other content or accepted responsibility for it.
9A. Complaints and appeals
You can use the site's report tools to flag illegal, unsafe or rule-breaking content. If you want to challenge a moderation decision, report a problem with how a complaint was handled, or raise a concern that cannot be dealt with through the normal report form, use the Contact Us page and provide enough information for us to identify the relevant account, listing, message or decision.
We will review complaints and appeals proportionately. We may keep records of reports, decisions and appeals where reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention or the defence of legal claims.
10. Availability and technical issues
We aim to keep WotUGot available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, security issues, hosting failures, software faults or events outside our reasonable control may interrupt the service.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy notice explains how personal information is used. Our Cookie notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used by the site.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service or law changes. Material changes should be brought to users' attention where reasonably practicable. Continued use after changes take effect means the updated terms apply to later use of the service.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are intended to be interpreted under the laws applicable in the United Kingdom. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms removes mandatory protections or rights you have under the law that applies to you.
